Gerda Winther, MA, is a clinical psychologist. She was chief psychologist and co-director of a psychiatric Hospital in the County of Copenhagen, and former associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Copenhagen. She is now in private practice. She is immediate past president of the Group Analytic Society,international and past chair of the Institute of Group Analysis, Copenhagen. has served on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Group Psychotherapy and Group processes (IAGP).
Is the author of articles and textbook chapters on clinical subjects such as trauma, depression, bipolar affective disorder, borderline personality disorder, eating disorders and during the years given papers and lectures at international conferences. In 1996 she was chair of the Xth. European Symposium in Group Analysis in Copenhagen and has arranged and co-arranged Group Analytic workshops in Denmark and abroad. Has over the years been engaged in research on schizophrenia and is member of the steering group of the Danish National Schizophrenia Project, a multi centre project for the treatment of first episode psychosis.
